Discover Anguilla

Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the northeastern Caribbean. Its low-lying island landscape differs from the steep volcanic terrain of many neighbouring islands. Beaches and coastal bays sit alongside small settlements with their own local roles.

A compact island geography

Distances are limited, but the relationship between the interior and the coast remains important. Not every settlement grew around a harbour or a beach.

The Valley inland

The principal town, The Valley, lies away from the shoreline. Its administrative role makes it a useful starting point for understanding the inhabited island. Anguilla's local community and history deserve attention alongside its better-known coastal scenery.
