Discover Malaysia

Malaysia has two major geographical parts: the Southeast Asian peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. The South China Sea separates them. Shared nationality does not create one continuous land corridor between their urban regions.

Peninsula and Borneo

Coastal, inland and island environments differ across those areas. Identifying the land section is essential to placing a city accurately rather than assuming every major centre belongs near the same capital.

Kuala Lumpur's western setting

The national capital occupies the peninsula. Its skyline therefore represents one particular urban world within Malaysia. Considering both national land sections preserves the broader geographical diversity beyond that familiar metropolitan image and gives other regional communities their own context.
