Mozambique / Place guide
Discover Mozambique
Mozambique follows the Indian Ocean in southeastern Africa. Madagascar lies across the Mozambique Channel. A long shoreline connects with major rivers and an extensive interior, creating a national landscape much broader than the coastal strip alone.

Length and regional variety
Northern, central and southern areas occupy different positions within this elongated country. One capital image should not silently give every region the same urban or coastal character.
Maputo in the far south
The national government centre lies near the southern end, not the geographical middle. Its bay and port belong to one specific regional setting. Understanding the whole coast first gives Maputo context without replacing other Mozambican landscapes and communities.
