Pakistan / Place guide
Discover Pakistan
Pakistan extends from the Arabian Sea to South Asian mountain regions. Its cities occupy markedly different landscapes. Karachi's coast, Punjab's urban centres and Islamabad below the Margalla Hills provide distinct regional perspectives rather than one national urban image.

Coast, provinces and inland routes
Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have different economic and historical backgrounds. International borders also connect several Asian regions. A port city and a planned government centre should not be treated as interchangeable settings.
Older cities within a modern state
The state arose after British India's partition, but urban histories reach much further back. Lahore's culture, Multan's shrines and Gandhara heritage around Peshawar show different local traditions within that wider national framework.
